  • hey! don't you talk to me about getting old! ...callow ephebe. ;-) really though, i'm ordering up a pair of prescription swim goggles (don't laugh) because i'm tired of seeing blurry fish and turtles when out snorkeling, or not seeing the incoming sets properly, while out surfing. so yeah, i'm getting up there in numbers, yearwise. those who are merely on the cusp of 18 shouldn't kvetch. ;-)

  • and yes, Kass, it IS getting cold. last night was outright frigid, as i walked back up Telegraph and through campus to my office from Cody's, lugging an armful of new books! not that i'll get to read any of them while still here. i'll wait until i hit the verdant bosom of Maui. huh, huh...huh uh huh! He said "bosom" ...uh, huh! ahm, refrain from snickering please: if you look at the island of Maui in profile as if you were looking down at it from an airplane heading northwest, it looks like the head and torso of an ample-breasted woman, facing left. =] (really. didn't you know that 'interpreting' island outlines is a kind of Rorschach Test? tee-hee.)

  • odd coincidence: Evi wrote about the summer in her weblog yesterday, too. i suppose thoughts of that warm season are never far from the mind, once the chill breezes from the north descend onto this latitude? or do you all just daydream while in class. ::chuckle::

  • Luis wrote a poignant story/fable for his UC college app essay. which now requires, of course, a new nickname for him on the leftlist: fishboy. also, Maciej told me last night that the next installment of his story as an immigrant to America is soon forthcoming! stay tuned. he expressed some skepticism that anyone is reading his moving weblog entries, and i hope i quashed that notion. i told him that a number of us regulars in this weblogging space are, in fact, first-generation immigrants like him. Luis and I are only two of many more.
