i gladly welcome back some prodigal sons from last summer's AIC/TIC who started weblogging... but then left off after the session ended, for various and sundry reasons. in any case, they're back and logging, and thus deserving of inclusion in my t e x t s list on the left, as well as yours, so update your lists, pleeaze...

"piedmont" is Kevin Thomas. any of you remember his funky, cool watch-the-grass-grow animated website? welcome back, Kev! i for one look forward to your writing on this space. for some reason, whenever i think of John Malcovich, i also think of you... must've been that funny review you did of that utterly quirky movie. ;-)

"headroycean" is Nick Baltazar. so Nick, man, when's your house going to be done? i pass by it almost everyday and it's still shrouded in all sorts of scaffolding and construction 'paper.' ::chuckle::

this pic is from yesterday afternoon, taken along Powell Street when Kass and I (and her SFGC and CVHS friend) were walking back to BART from their rehearsal. it was a bit late in the day already, and ambient sunlight was absent from the avenue's concrete canyon (need lots of light to capture these 'reflections' images i like), but when i saw this electronics shop and a videocam setup i said oh yeah. neat. not exactly a reflections image, but kinda sorta like one nevertheless. so, click and voila.

the chorus rehearsal itself was fascinating, and brought back wonderful memories of when i was a member of the redoubtable University of the Philippines Concert Chorus, way back in the day. one piece Chorissima rehearsed, in particular, Ted Allen's Going Out Tonight, i found really cool. Magen, the chorus director, said it was about stars coming out at night, and indeed it sounded like that as i closed my eyes and listened to the resonant notes and tones (sung with just vowel sounds: ah, oo, oh... and even "uh") of 40 very talented girls resounding in a large rehearsal hall of wood and with the ghosts of many singers past listening in.

more weblog must-reads and updates:

David Hunter has an entirely new weblog: david.editthispage.com ... and it's not just a new URL, so PLEASE EDIT YOUR LISTS. (also, he's using a nifty new theme! i like it a lot, because the eye is focused on the writing/text.) the weblog entry itself, on the magic of dogs, is fascinating... but unfinished. hey Dave, uh, complete the thought? ;-)

Yong-eun is also using a very nice new theme: hangook1004.editthispage.com likewise, the theme lends itself to focusing on the writing. but Y-E, it appears that theme has NO calendar by default (like one of the others, the plain white 'resume' theme). since a calendar is the main navigational tool, you'll have to add the calendar tag (with the CURLY brackets) in the template somewhere. IM me or any of the TAs if you have questions about this.

Allie's interesting weblog on self-defense...

Jorge on how he hates to lose...

Devin on how his cellfone was stolen and it effin' suckt...

Fed on weblogging, history, and why physics sucks... and welcome back from the realm of silences, aristotle. ;-)

Laura on Cool things that happened at school...

Candace on tragi-comedy and The Fates... a fragment:

While neither of these little drops of wax from the wings of Icarus is difficult to remedy, they both brought me down with a thud before I'd even left the shore. Not being able to focus is actually more annoying than having to pay over $200 for a car I won't be using for a year; it makes stuff like, oh, weblogging, for example, difficult, not to mention all the reading I'm supposed to do before classes start two weeks from today! My one hope against the fates is that, unlike Oedipus and Hamlet, I am acting out a comedy rather than a tragedy. It would be unpleasant to have to gouge out my own eyes.
