pictures at an exhibition
no, not Mussorgsky, classical music fans ... and classical illiterati like Tom F. ;-)
text and images on their way today, after a staff meeting: yoshiko's artwork / walking in SF / sfmoma / more cute ratpix / sunday at kassland / etc.
david hunter update: he made it fine through his elbow reconstruction surgery yesterday. it took longer than expected, as the surgeons discovered more damage than the x-rays had shown, with major shards of elbow bone all over the place. 4 screws and 2 springs (!) had to be installed. the springs are so that he can move and bend his arm once the sling is removed. (so now i have to install a new nickname for David: bionicboy haha.) alas, the prognosis is that Dave won't be able to fully straighten his arm out 100%. however, 95% is possible the docs say, with adequate attention to physical rehab and therapy. we should all encourage bionicboy in this endeavor, eh?
as a very small gesture of encouragement, yesterday i got David and myself 2 tickets to the Giants/Diamondbacks game at PacBell Park on Saturday the 23rd. this should be quite a doozy, as both teams are vying for the pennant. i snapped up the tickets online at a reseller of season tickets (for seasontix holders who can't attend particular games), and lucked out as, minutes later, that game completely sold out! so Dave, heal up quick, and let's go bask in the sun and a Giants game soon.

top left ... a Tagami original. one of my ATDP colleagues, Yoshiko Tagami, is a wonderful pastel artist. she finished this painting recently, and one of our friends snapped a pic of it at a party at her house. i welcome her to my adults list on the left. she'll soon be updating her weblog with a note about her work.
top right ... who's the cardsharp here? ;-) at Kassland, after dinner. deciding on the kind of card game we are to play. Kassdad taught us this cool one, "10-9-8" or "entrelevant" (in Dikuson-san's locution).
bottom left ... sky and ground in san francisco. on my SFMOMA trip. this building is right next to the museum, on Minna (yes, Kass and assorted gentlepersons) Street. the Magritte exhibit itself, which ended yesterday, deserves comment on its own in a separate weblog.
bottom right ... visual explanations of a rat. yes, another cute Nikolai photograph. i've lots more to catalogue soon enough. those Tufte books are way cool, btw. my non-technical books are on the unseen shelf just above the top frame.
