weekend wackiness woes and wisdomses
ooh ooh... i want some attention too. ;-) check out what laura is saying about me. tee-hee.
that first paragraph is, of course, a backhanded swipe at Sparks' very interesting response to the listlog 'controversy.' while i do applaud his ingeniously creative attention-getting device, i think this is a matter of cutting off one's nose to spite one's face. Spark, i for one will miss your daily accounts of balancing--on the big DDR pad of your life--the 4 cardinal directions of school, driving, hw and eating Big Macs. but you ARE running the risk of someone else saying "do i care?" when faced with the sudden week-long absence of your weblog. and you may not like their answer to that question. i know you've always said that you're writing your weblog for yourself... and you don't care what others think about it. but you're (a) being disingenuous and (b) you're missing THE crucial dimension of the weblogging community when you don't write for an audience. it's not about you; or me, or any given individual. if i was only writing my weblog for myself, there would be no point whatsoever and i might just as well write a secret diary on a regular notebook, to be kept under lock and key in my desk. you yourself acknowledge that this is about community. and remember, when we started this way back in June, it started in the context of our classroom community? and yes you're being disingenuous... after all, your response clearly suggests that you DO care what your audience thinks about your weblog.
that said, i DO like your test. and as you know perfectly well, i've ALREADY passed it with flying colors, as i miss your li... er, weblog ;-p already! and incidentally, your "Closed Down" message was very well written, in an engaging conversational style, plus paragraphed appropriately as well. hee-hee. not everyone is like me though, to flog a banally obvious point, and you run the risk of someone habitually NOT coming back to your weblog after 7 days of the same thing. and that would be a diminishment in our weblogging community. on the other hand, it could increase interest and anticipation on your return! (now if only the sphinx had given us a similar date-stamped thing, or a statute of limitations. ::chuckle::)
...i could always count on you bringing a fresh twist of lemon to our issues du jour. now, are you getting enough sleep?
