MADD... mothers against digital drattedness
ok people, here's a fairly easy editthispage bug to run into. check out Cole's nifty white page. *chuckle* the reason it's that way is, in the process of editing his Style Sheet, he inadvertently deleted the close style tag. poof, his weblog disappears into an arctic mist in winter. actually, if you look hard enough, you'll see a polar bear in there somewhere, along with the ghost of Admiral Perry. ;-) (actually, you CAN read his text, if you look at the source.)
anyway, this is pretty irritating--the first time i have really been able to say this of manila... or is it web browsers in general? since it appears that this bug is fairly easy to stumble onto! anyone with time on their hands (Kass! Quad! ^.^) feel free to test this hypothesis by doing some style sheet shenanigans on a page or something, and let us know the results. in the meantime, Cole has e-mailed the folks at userland.com to see if anyone there can fix his weblog up. i've tried using several older browsers to see if CSS is bypassed, but no luck. however, i haven't found Netscape or IE 3.0... anyone have these? if so, let us know. as a service to Cole, here's his weblog for today, via the ATDP webserver.
by the way, what is it with moms today? have the stars misaligned in a certain mom-freaking-out manner? check out Sparky's log as well, for a truly frightening tale of maternal angst. *shiver* [late night update: in an unusual, but quite understandable move, Jonathan deleted the previous weblog he wrote. so the tale is gone.]
and for a different take on this issue... read what Luis has to say.

all's well that ends well. Quad, living up to his new moniker, fixed Cole's weblog. for a fairly extended transcript of some of the funnier moments, check out 'heart's' weblog. cross-posted tidbits also exist in Cole's and Quad's. wow, people have time on their hands these days. ::snicker:: well, enjoy these last few moments of freedom before school kicks in, fellas/gals. but i hope you won't have the same schedule upcoming as Fletcher's. what, is he in academic boot camp or something? sheesh. what an insane schedule... i guess the Caltechies aren't kidding when they lay claim to being among the scientific elite in the known universe. but this is ridiculous. the price one has to pay for entry into that priesthood apparently requires monastic rigor and discipline. well, best wishes to Fletcher anyway. i suppose we won't be seeing any digital pix anytime soon from sunny Pasadena. well, here are some from me in any case... ;-) (*chuckle* what a lame excuse!) a series of 'reflections' pix taken from a recent walk around downtown Berkeley recently:
i am sprinkled anew, a baptismal font at noon...
when citizens on velocipedes pedal off to work...
while rodents look on from behind closed blue doors...
and twins look out from doubled mirrors.
signs in mandarinic calligraphy blink and fizz...
while nearby, guernicine strife is replicated on canvases
that echo chiaroscuro days and lithe dark shapes
whispering 'x does not mark the spot'
where my heart sings and vibrates, ever resonant.
