back to old habits:
...walking through campus and along Telegraph Avenue this afternoon, on a long break from work, for one. slowly, the pall lifts. i'm still missing them, but it's more manageable today. it helps that it's not as hot and muggy as yesterday (yes, it was like that here in Berkeley, too), and so a thoughtful stroll through the picturesque campus and Southside is just the tonic to revive a dampened spirit. it was intentional, too: i wanted to play around with the macro feature of my digital camera, and you're seeing a result in this image to the right. i was impressed with the resolution, actually. these digital cameras have gotten really sophisticated, over the last year and a half. i still remember my first one, an Apple QuickTake, about 6 or 7 years ago. boy, what muddy images that one captured. not worth archiving even. ::chuckle::
another old habit renewed, after the fun and frenzy of the past six weeks: online shopping. heh. Tomas Bandong STILL hadn't gotten Harry Potter #4, so, being impatient for him to finally read it, i went ahead and amazonned it to him. and while i was there, also got a belated present for Edith, Angel's younger sister (she had wanted the Millennium Edition of Monopoly, which was sold out last Xmas).
along the same lines, this evening i grabbed a couple of Giants tickets from an online site for Tom F. and myself for this Sunday's Giants game at the new ballpark! got great seats -- section 319, almost right behind home base! (well yeah, it's up on the topmost 'view' level, but that's cool. Tom says it affords a panoramic view of the ballpark AND the Bay beyond. excellent!) anyway, that website just rox... it's part of what i love about the Net -- makes it so easy to transact something that would have taken quite a bit of doing previously. basically, though Giants ballgames are technically sold-out, you can still get tickets from season-ticket holders who can't attend certain games and who then sell them online at that site. btw, Maya Amerson's mom works for the Giants, in the ticketing department. plus, she can get in because she and her mom are friends with the SF mascot, who lets them in for free. sweet! haha. Tom and I will look for Maya this Sunday at the 1:30 game.
