* Tom, did you call home at noon?
* reminder: pick up TV and VCR @tolmanmedia for DDR, around 2:30

update, midnight

i couldn't find time to write up this weblog today, so i'm just gonna do it tomorrow (Saturday). in any case, the thread of this weblog entry is as follows...

  1. read an article on Salon Tech on an online open-source community called Advogato, which is kinda like Slashdot, but supposedly better.

  2. followed the link to Advogato itself, and surfed around a bit. was impressed, and felt that the Salon article was indeed on the mark.

  3. followed another link in the article to the seminal Ph.D. thesis abstract by Ralph Levien, who was the honcho who started the Advogato website. noted with interest that Levien was grad student at UC Berkeley when he wrote his thesis.

  4. absolutely couldn't follow the ultra-technical math stuff in the paper proper, but intuitively 'got' some of the ideas from the abstract and introduction.

  5. linked it to what we've been doing at AIC with the weblogging, as the lightbulbs went flashing on in dazzling, dizzying fashion, in my mind.
